SC Department of Public Safety Highway Maintenance Worker I- Small Equipment Operator (61031931) in Aiken County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

Operates a standard dump truck during daily maintenance operations for Aiken Maintenance work request crew. Performs duties using manual labor during roadway and right of way maintenance activities. Areas of work may include, but are not limited to, signage and pavement markings, driveway installation and maintenance, construction of drainage appurtenances, maintenance of drainage appurtenances, litter/debris removal, vegetation management, bridge maintenance, and patching /paving. Operates power tools breaking out sidewalks and curbs for driveway construction and other concrete or asphalt pavement repair jobs. Assists with the set up of traffic control and flags traffic to protect the crew and motoring public. Operates front-end loader in order to remove material from right of ways. Operates standard dump truck with snowplow and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor/ Resident Maintenance Engineer.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
