Mechanical Engineering Internship/Co-Op

One World Technologies, Inc dba TTI Power Equipment, has openings in its Anderson, SC office for Mechanical Engineering Internships & Co-Ops that are responsible for leading the design and development of new consumer products.A Mechanical Engineering Intern or Co-Op must be able to simultaneously manage multiple, high priority projects at various stages of development. He or she provides technical and team leadership to take new projects from early concept to mass production within a constrained time period while supporting enhancements of mature products. Strong communication skills are necessary, using written, oral, and multimedia communications that are appropriate for the recipients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for technical leadership on multiple new product development programs and support of mature products.

  • Coordinate all design elements of a product, including mechanical systems, motors, electrical systems, and product geometry considering material selection, packaging, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Incorporate a blend of established and innovative solutions into product design for high volume manufacturing.

  • Drive quality compliance as related to project work. Utilize appropriate design development tools and techniques such as Value Engineering and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design of experiments, design for manufacture, assembly and inspection, CAD analysis and 3D Design Tools.

  • Generate, evaluate, and select appropriate designs, materials and processes for cost effective and durable solutions for complete new products.

  • Write general product specifications to meet performance, reliability, and safety expectations.

  • Develop and enforce schedules from concept development to mass production while ensuring cost, timing, reliability, and manufacturing requirements are met.

  • Direct daily communications, using verbal, written, and multimedia formats to assure all groups are working toward the goal of timely project completion.

  • Initiate and follow patent searches to assure infringement clearance of existing patents.

  • Participate in developing patents to protect innovation.

  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support assignments.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to demonstrate effective time management and decision making skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high urgency and fluctuating priority.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English with cross functional teams, locally and internationally.

  • Must be able to communicate technical information in an appropriate manner to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Must be able to identify root cause to solve complex problems and direct others in problem resolution.

  • Must be a self-starter with high initiative. Must be able to demonstrate willingness to learn and grow as a self-motivated engineer.

  • Experience using power tools is a plus.
