Techtronic Industries North America, Inc. Sr. Injection Molding Engineer in Anderson, South Carolina
The Sr. Injection Molding Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development and qualification of plastic injection molding tooling/processes for new products, improvement/enhancements of existing tooling, as well as coordinating with the appropriate teams to insure the quality level of plastic molded products. In addition, support the design of molded components to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Provide support in the design of plastic molded components to facilitate ease of molding, lower part cost and opportunities for manufacturing automation.
Assist in establishing manufacturing processes for new tooling.
Work with mold manufacturers in the design of new tooling and modification of existing tooling in order to ensure process capabilities, improve part cost and quality.
Identify areas of improvement in cavitation, material usage, logistics, and operational effectiveness.
Understand supplier capabilities and execute supplier oversight activities, which may include phone assessments, surveys, quality reviews, and supplier corrective action reconciliation.
Responsible for supporting transition and re-qualification of molds between suppliers.
Work with the Quality department to improve Supplier Quality measurements, processes, and performance.
Develops and maintains a good working relationship with both internal and external customers.
Identify and implement cost savings projects to improve overall component costs.
Participate & Support department-wide initiatives to simplify and automate complex processes.
Establish and maintain a database of molds including: CAD files/drawings for molds, mold flow records, process settings for each mold, shot history, and other key data.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Injection molding and part/mold design experience.
Experience with CAD/CAM software
Capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems
Working knowledge of and/or education, skills, and experience associated with manufacturing processes, and engineering drawings requirements.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Must be able to multitask, meet deadlines and support all supplier quality field activities.
PPAP experience preferred
Automation technology experience preferred
Experience with secondary operations (hot stamping, heat transfer, pad printing, in-mold labeling, insert molding, heat-staking or ultrasonic welding) for plastic parts preferred
Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
Strong leadership skills
