U.S. Marine Corps Fuel Distribution System Worker in Beaufort, South Carolina

Summary This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This announcement is being amended to extend the closing date to 12 May 21. Responsibilities You will operate refueling trucks to transport fuel on the installation and over public highways You will perform daily operator maintenance on vehicle (e.g., check fluid levels, tire pressure, etc.) You will collect fuel samples from tankers, bulk storage tanks, fill stands, nozzles, mobile re-fuelers, filters, and separators to conduct on site visual tests You will be responsible for the transferring and placement of Fuel. You will be responsible for the maintenance of Storage Tank and Equipment. You will serve on quick response for oil spills, tank ruptures, and leaks from barges, or other types of petroleum pollution. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: To include simple operation of fuel pumps, preventive maintenance of cleaning equipment, and lubricating valves and pumps. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Education Education is not applicable for this series/grade. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Please Note: Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.
