Roper St. Francis Healthcare Director Health Information Service in Charleston, South Carolina

Job Summary:

Directs and manages the operation, strategic planning, marketing and business development, patient (or other customer) satisfaction, profitability and clinical outcomes (where applicable) for all clinical documentation improvement services (CDI) and health information management services (HIM) which includes Medical Records, Transcription, Coding/Data Quality and Master Patient Index. Facilitates accreditation and licensing surveys. Facilitates the planning, organization, implementation and control of the resources needed for optimal CDI and HIM performance in coordination with the various physicians, clinicians and other support staff personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree; MHA/MBA preferred.

Experience: Five years management experience required.

Licensure/Certification: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required.

Knowledge/Skills: Management principles including managing medical staff relationships, health planning, financial planning and analysis, reimbursement, contract negotiations, construction planning, problem solving, total quality management (TQM), human resource development, information management and planning. Knowledge of federal and state release of medical information regulations and medical record keeping requirements, knowledge in the areas of Medicare Conditions of Participation, compliance, government and state rules and regulations, and The Joint Commission. Effective projected management.

Other: Fluent in system-wide PC applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of clinical systems where applicable which may include STAR and Horizons Clinicals or similar systems.

Contacts: Vice Presidents, physicians, patients, patient family members, all staff within the service line and other support staff throughout the system. DHEC, JCAHO and other regulatory bodies where applicable.
