Job Summary:

Trane Technologies is hiring a Process Quality Engineer in Columbia, SC. In this role, you will coordinate, organize and supervise production process methods and engineering activities that enable production. This includes sustaining engineering, new product launch processes and continuous improvement activities. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining production processes to drive quality and efficiency and to develop manufacturing plans which improve operations competitiveness.


Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology

Assumes responsibility for Capital planning, CER creations and Approvals, Capital Project Timing and Implementation, Capital Spending and Budgeting/ Assumes responsibility for Plant VA/VE Savings

Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including: PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management and Simultaneous Engineering

Manages, develops and improves manufacturing standards including: machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times.

Provide technical support to Engineering and Supply Chain teams with packaging concepts, feasibility analysis, cost containment, and supplier capability

Evaluate packaging according to accepted industry test specifications, rules, and requirements to validate cost and effectiveness, shipping stability, structural integrity, cosmetic acceptability, and manufacturability

Provide container and truckload packing schemes


Bachelors degree required

3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, line layouts, line balancing, and production support

Experience using principles of structural analysis to determine effects of loads on structures

Experience using standards, specifications, rules, and requirements (ex. ASTM) for the proper packaging of goods moved by motor carrier

Experience protecting products from scuffing, vibration, crushing, dropping, humidity, and condensation when sent via LTL (Less than Truck Load) and on Flat bed Trucks
