Position Title: Senior Buyer/Planner - Process Solutions

Reports to: Director, Supply Chain

Location: Columbia, SC

Job Summary:

Responsible for all tactical aspects of direct & indirect material procurement & production scheduling. This will be done through using the company’s ERP system for both a build-to-stock and make-to-order customer demand.

Essential Functions:

  • Works closely with the Sales, Operations, Finance, Customer Service and other departments to ensure timeliness of information and data accuracy to avoid disruptions within the supply chain. Includes the auditing of customer and operation service levels to determine the root causes of failures and implement corrective actions to limit their re-occurrence.

  • Supply Chain Department’s ERP Power User to propel the system as the planning system of record minimizing the use of external freestanding tools. Trains cross-functional teams on Best-Practices in the set-up and utilization of the ERP system to ensure demand and supply are aligned correctly with production capabilities and the most efficient and cost effective plans.

  • Mentor and cross-train business’s Buyer/Planner I, a direct report for this position to be successful in their objects.

  • Regularly participates in the business supply base segmentation analysis and other supply risk mitigation practices to limit company’s procurement exposure, determine areas for alternate sources and supply agreements as required.

  • Lead business’s Sale, Inventory, and Operations (SIOP) process to balance supply & demand requirements to satisfy external & internal customer needs while optimizing the organization’s inventory levels.

  • Reports weekly on Supply Chain Department’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Support new product launches for the supply chain attributes to achieve timely and successful introductions.

  • Create, implement and monitor supply chain KPI’s to drive process improvements.

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience with an additional 4 years of involvement in materials management, production planning, purchasing or other related activities are required.

  • Proficient ERP system skills with a minimum 5 years of experience working within manufacturing make-to-stock businesses utilizing an integrated ERP system are required.

  • Highly analytical with a background in configuration/problem solving of planning parameters on an ERP system is required. Practical experiences operating relational databases, advanced skill sets in Excel, Pivot Tables, and Access databases and familiar with creating ad hoc reports is required.

  • Progressive SIOP knowledge with a minimum 3 years leading these type of meetings is preferred.

  • Direct management experience preferred.

  • Institute for Supply Management (ISM) C.P.M., CPSM® or CPSM® and The Association for Operations Management (APICS) CPIM, CSCP or CFPIM professional certifications are preferred.
