Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is currently recruiting for a Senior Director - GS / ESP Change & Communications within the Johnson & Johnson Global Services organization. This position can be located at any J&J site globally, with the preferred location being one of our Global Services Hubs in either Manila, Suzhou, Prague, Bogota, Tampa, or New Brunswick, NJ.

The Senior Director GS / ESP Change & Communications leader will be responsible for partnering with key stakeholders across the Global Services Organization to develop the Change Management strategy and drive defined change initiatives to enable faster adoption, higher utilization proficiency (New Ways of Working) within and across our operating model. This leader will be responsible for building the organizational capability for change, building change leadership/execution capability with leaders and a change network. Overall the strategies developed by the Change & Communications team will drive improved employee experience, benefit realization, value creation, service delivery and/or workplace experience. This leader will work closely with all stakeholders to enhance GS / ESP employee experience including We Belong, GS / ESP Branding and Purpose and other GS / ESP key engagement / New Ways of Working initiatives.

The Change & Communications Lead will ensure that Change Management & Communication strategies are fully integrated into GS / ESP Portfolio Management process, aligned with GS / ESP business priorities and business stakeholders/partners. The leader will develop the intake process for change or communications needs to include the process by which requests are prioritized and dimensionalized to determine level of change and/or communication support that may be required. Ensures effective and cost-efficient use of change and communication consultants within GS and approves / manages all consultants hired for change within the GS portfolio of work.

The Change & Communications Leader will partner with Corporate Communications and HR teams (and others as required) to help lead and drive GS / ESP engagement plans and programs that bolster and sustain the GS / ESP reputation and branding. Communications Team will be accountable for aligning GS / ESP business priorities with regions to craft a cohesive and consistent communication strategy for the organization while partnering with Corporate Communications, HR and/or Global Functions as needed. (i.e Townhalls, Regional/Site Communications, We Belong….)

The Change & Communications Lead will establish the groups / forums / technology for change and communications delivery – these could include (but are not limited to) direct reports and matrix groups such as a Change Network, HR Business Partners, leaders and consultants. The Change & Communications Lead is responsible for building the right level of capability within each group so that the execution arm of Change is accomplished with discipline and rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as member of the J&J GS Strategy & Transformation leadership team, representing the unique challenges and needs for the Change Management & Communications on be behalf of Global Services / ESP vison/mission.

  • Partner with J&J GS / ESP leadership, peers in functions and COE, GS Training, BU HR and other peer relationships required to support efficient collaboration, planning and delivery of Change & Communications initiatives and projects through the portfolio process

  • Manage, mature and promote the use of Change Management and Communications frameworks and processes across Global Services to ensure best engagement and delivery methods are employed that maximize efficiencies and value across the operating model

  • Create and appropriate networks internally and externally to GS / ESP to maximize engagements and ensure One Voice of GS / ESP and value

  • Develop strong partnership with PMO and to ensure metrics, successes, storytelling are part of the change journey

  • Change Management & Communications Leadership:

  • Provides deep change expertise and draws a holistic and strategic view of change management for the Global Services and ESP organization

  • Develops the strategy and leads implementation of the change / communication execution arm for the organization (e.g. leaderships role in change, Change Network, Human Resources, etc.)

  • Provide leadership oversight to large scale Change Management and Communications initiatives across the Global Services and ESP organization

  • Partner and manage the Change Management and Communication work associated with movement of new work and/or services into and within the J&J GS / ESP organization

  • Partners with the project management team and other SI areas to ensure change management needs are properly assessed and resourced accordingly

  • Provide oversight over all change management related activities including:

  • Preparing for change: perform current state assessment, define change management plan, create change management team, identify and manage sponsor and stakeholders

  • Managing change: Develop and implement change management plans that includes communication, sponsor, training, coaching and resistance management plans

  • Reinforcing and sustaining change: Collect and analyze feedback, diagnose risks and gaps, manage resistance to change, implement corrective actions and celebrate change success

  • Shape and Drive Effective Communication

  • Work closely with all stakeholders to enhance the J&J employee experience and ensure the success of GS / ESP change initiatives enabling consistency of messaging and content

  • Lead broader organizational communication strategies that reach the minds and hearts of our colleagues.

  • Drive integration across J&J business lines and connect to enterprise platforms for the benefit of the total organization globally

  • Partner with SDL’s SEE and GS / ESP Value Marketing on driving Regional/Global Communications and developing channels to drive GS / ESP Branding and workforce engagement – holistic GS / ESP story for employees and stakeholders

  • Partnering with Global Operations – Site Operations on BCP and Site/Region Communications (Site Coordinators) to ensure driving GS / ESP Voice Globally

  • Partner with Functional & Corporate Communications to ensure One GS / ESP Voice for Service Experience improvements

  • Embrace and lead a culture of inclusiveness and multi-cultural engagement through coaching and feedback to peers and the broader community in Global Services in alignment with the J&J’s Leadership imperatives

  • Develop a strong pipeline of global and diverse leaders. Enable a Credo-based & High-Performance Culture within team.

  • Develops a capability building plan for the direct report team and for the change execution groups

  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, feedback, and, where appropriate, discipline to and through subordinate team members.

  • Benchmark capabilities, processes and tools against peer groups both internal and external. Build and execute plans to continually mature and expand the skills and capabilities of the Change Management and Communication teams

  • Leads the ongoing development and maturity of the Change Management and Communications organization in partnership and consultation with Human Resources and Corporate Communications

  • Develops external relationships to ensure current and state of the art approaches

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent degree) is required, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development / Change or Business with a focus in Organizational Studies

  • Strongly prefer a Master’s degree in Organizational Development (MSOD), Human Resources or Business (MBA) with a focus in Organizational Studies

  • A minimum of 12 years of related business experience is required

  • 12 years of progressive change management and communications experience is required

  • Prior people management experience is required

  • Thorough understanding of Change Management strategic planning processes, delivery methodologies/tools to delivery successful change programs is required

  • Prior experience operating in a matrix global framework is required

  • Proven results in performing business readiness activities, including stakeholder management and communication planning and delivery is required

  • Deep knowledge of organizational systems, models, interdependencies and the ability to assess organization dynamics / systems and design interventions aimed at moving the organization forward against business goals is required

  • Strong leadership skills are required, as this position operates as a global leader, with understanding and appreciation for regional differences

  • The ability to build strong partnerships with peers and other senior level partners (Vice Presidents and Sr. Directors) is required

  • The ability to develop and implement communications or change management programs is required

  • Strong capability in assessing, developing and hiring talent is required

  • The ability to craft approaches for the organization that meet short term needs while supporting / pushing moving the org forward for the long term is required

  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills and the ability to simplify the complex for leadership action is required

  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others

  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges is required

  • Must thrive on ambiguity and have the ability to create value out of white space

  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle is required

  • Experience with large-scale Transformation and process change efforts is required

  • PROSCI Change management certification preferred

  • This position may require up to 40% domestic and/or international travel
