Insure that warehouse and delivery activities are performed efficiently by overseeing subordinates and performing the tasks personally when necessary.
Coordinate warehouse and delivery activities, under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, keeping warehouse inventory current and delivering all outgoing customer orders and transfers.
Inspect physical condition of warehouse, equipment, and delivery vehicles.
Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Convey materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas.
Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence in merchandising warehouse and in regular warehouse.
Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to packing station or delivery staging area.
Load and unload trucks and verify load against shipping papers.
Prepare receipts for load picked up.
Assist in telephone contact with Division Directors for delivery instructions.
Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities and deliveries with activities of other functions such as sales, records control, and purchasing.
Direct salvage/disposition of damaged or used material.
Assure that all materials have the proper identifying information before shipping.
Use computer to enter or retrieve records.
Prepare parcels for mailing and/or shipping.
Assist in maintaining warehouse inventory records.
Participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
Arrange and coordinate delivery methods.
Determine delivery schedules.
Schedule receipt of incoming shipments.
Assist in coordinating physical inventories.
Coordinate and direct maintenance of building and other property or facilities.
Oversee and direct maintenance personnel and workers engaged in repair, installation and preventive maintenance.
Directly supervise warehouse associates.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Plan, assign and direct work.
Reward and discipline employees.
Address complaints and resolve problems.
Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
High school diploma /GED.
Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Current drivers and valid drivers license is mandatory.
Must maintain OSHA forklift annual certification.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
