Overview of Job Function

The Sr. Software Engineer contributes to the design, development, and implementation of the customer data integrations, platform capabilities and services in support of delivery of hosted IVR (interactive voice response systems) and speech applications. As well as support and develop the voice channel of IVA (Intelligent Virtual Assistant) solutions. The role utilizes proficiency and highly developed skills to work on complex projects. The senior engineer possesses experience with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. The engineer relies on pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the position under occasional supervision. In addition, the role utilizes current experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop complex JSP and JavaScript in support of VoiceXML applications.

  • Design and develop customer data integration software.

  • Design and develop Java servlets and applications.

  • Design and develop tools and reusable frameworks.

  • Maintain existing customer and platform Java software.

  • Perform SQL stored procedure design and development.

  • Perform Production Platform troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related degree

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in software development

  • Strong proficiency in Java, C#, JavaScript and VXML programming

  • Experience developing/consuming REST based web services

  • Experience in fault-tolerant or highly available, distributed systems

  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within software design and development

  • Experience in Object Oriented analysis and design

  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Ability to work both independently as well as in a dynamic, distributed team environment

  • Strong time management; ability to adhere to strict delivery schedules and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations

Preferred Requirements

  • Knowledge of current trends and practices of telecommunications/IVR industry

  • Knowledge of Invision Studio

  • Proficient in data integration technologies and problem solving

  • Proficient in integrating client-side web service applications

  • Proficient in integrating Java applications via JDBC into SQL Server and Oracle

  • Ability to effectively create design and interface specifications

  • Ability to provide leadership and oversight to projects

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, prospective customers and vendors

  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information; ability to understand and follow instructions
