The End to End Supply Chain Enterprise Architect within the SCIT Research & Design Business Architecture organization is responsible for developing and maintaining a future state architecture supporting processes that span the Supply Chain business end to end. Given the nature of these processes, it will serve as a framework for all business unit and product line architectures. The E2E SC Architect will partner with senior business process owners, BTLs, EPLs, and TS at every level to define, develop, document and communicate the technical requirements, principles, and models guiding Supply Chain IT investments. The incumbent will be expected to work across J&J and across industry (analysts, vendors, external peer groups) to become experts in new and existing technology with the potential to drive positive change for J&J Supply Chain.
Enterprise Architects will shape technology direction across product lines and business units by translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint. The scope of the architecture blueprint or reference architecture will be within and across product lines and will consider relevant process, application, data, and infrastructure influences across Supply Chain, J&J, and where needed, the external marketplace. The blueprint will provide a detailed technical design suitable for Technology Services to develop the blueprinted capabilities. The incumbent will be expected to have the ability to effectively articulate the e2e architecture via words and pictures and, through these media, influence decision making across the supply chain.
Enterprise Architects are expected to be senior technology leaders AND have deep business knowledge across supply chain. In the case of the E2E Architect, this broad skillset will also span tactical and strategic thinking – all connected to fulfilling the mission of J&J Supply Chain and J&J overall. They will work along a time horizon that includes describing the current state of technology, identification of near-term efficiency and lifecycle opportunities, and the development of more aspirational target environments for the mid and long-term future. In this capacity, the e2e SC Architect will serve as a strategic extension to the SC Enterprise Architect.
You will be responsible for:
Develop an end to end Supply Chain architecture. The architecture will serve as a framework into which all the product line architecture must inherit from and align with. There is no e2e product line per se but there are processes that span product lines. It is this scope that the e2e architect will be focused on. The e2e Architecture should also ensure business strategies and technologies that span product lines are aligned with the developed architecture. End to end may reach outside of J&J’s internal systems and the e2e architecture should encompass seamless integration with business partner architectures as well in those cases.
The e2e Architect researches, identifies and evaluates technical trends and enabling technologies based on internal innovation, vendor innovation, advisory guidance, emerging business models and competitors' practices. Maintains an innovation portfolio to test the most promising innovative technologies for the supply chain. Creates and updates annually, a technology trends assessment for business process leadership. Publishes quarterly updates and communicates those via written (white paper) and verbal means to relevant product line and other stakeholders.
Consults with business and technology partners (internal and external) and analysts to understand and apply architecture. The focus will be on future-oriented deliverables but could also be during the program development phase of SDLC.
Supports other RDE architects in their endeavors. Optimally, these discussions will be conducted using reference architecture material already developed. If that material is new, unclear, or absent, it will be necessary to work with program teams to understand the architecture guidance applicable to their initiative.
Contributes to the SC/SCIT strategy, SC & J&J Architecture Strategy and where relevant, SC and J&J business strategy. Ensures all Product Line strategies and deliverables are consistent with next generation architecture
Will serve as guide to application lifecycle value manager to ensure the value proposition that role is targeting delivers the strategy envisioned by the e2e architect. This will include oversight of IT data model for application portfolio analytics and definition of value proposition for the application portfolio as a whole.
Contribute content to the FEA community via meeting participation, white paper development, master class teaching assignments, FEA topic leadership, and in other ways to fully engage with the broader J&J EA community
