WABTEC Engineer – Lead Engineer - Systems Engineering in Duncan, South Carolina

Overview

Wabtec is a leading supplier of value-added, technology-based products and services for rail, transit and other global industries. Wabtec is seeking a Systems Engineer. The Candidate has responsibility for system design, requirements definition, and requirements validation for rail passenger transit brake, brake control and coupler systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing and coordinating the technical aspects of projects.

  • Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project Clients' technical staff.

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Engineering design of systems, including creation of high-level drawings, descriptions, calculations, requirements, and analysis.

  • Coordination and checking of high-level engineering deliverables, including RAMS.

  • Checking of product deliverables for requirements compliance and system compatibility.

  • Establishing requirements and plans for products, testing, implementation, and car acceptance.

  • Coordinate system development tasks to include design, integration and formal testing

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design or system engineering position that includes areas associated with a design life cycle (planning, concept, requirements, design, implementation, testing, maintenance)

  • BS Electrical Engineering, BS Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering, BS AeroSpace Engineering, BS Computer Engineering

  • Strong academic background involving mechanical and electrical disciplines. Mechanical applications skills are required.

  • Project management skills and experience in the areas of scheduling, tracking, risk, and outsourcing are required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills related to technical items and project reporting.

  • A high degree of negotiation and management skills is required.

  • Interpersonal skills needed for dealing with all levels of internal and external organizations.

  • A high degree of self-discipline and self-motivation is required.

  • A desire for customer satisfaction and customer interaction is required.

  • Ability to accept and respond to daily direction provided by the Project/Program Manager.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player is required.

  • Highly developed skill related to planning, requirements, design, architecture, verification and validation, testing and problem solving

  • Knowledgeable in IEEE/EN/IEC Standards

  • Any Rail experience, in particular related to brake control, wheel slide control, networks.
