WABTEC RMA Quality Engineer in Duncan, South Carolina
Coordinates the correct management of material rejected by customers to ensure defective material segregation, defect remediation and future defect prevention.
Ensure the organizational compliance with key industry quality organizations such as ISO, IRIS and AAR as relating to the handling of defective material and the monitoring and prevention of defects.
Identify best practice and lead implementation of methods and procedures for handling material that is rejected by customers (externally). Implement process improvements, with coordination from all departments, and establish standardized work instructions.
Issue reports (including corporate reports) and analyses relating to rejected or returned material to ensure accurate communication among vendors, internal resources and customers. Utilize and maintain WIM for all RMA activities.
Conduct meetings and reviews of rejected material with manufacturing, purchasing and product quality assurance leaders to establish root cause of defects and actions resulting from root cause identification.Kick off and participate in QRQC, follow up on all RMAs to ensure allotted timeline is kept. Provide training of RMA and other related processes.
Develop related measures to indicate organizational performance relating to product rejections, and assist with continuous improvement against these objectives.
Bachelors Degree preferred or at least 5 years progressive experience in a related capacity (including quality, material management, warranty administration or project management).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Either or both of the following are preferred: Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, (as certified by ASQC). Successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in MS Office and database software packages, with particular expertise preferred in MS Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Mixed office and workshop environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasional travel (<10%) will be required.
TRAINING:Requires specialized training and willingness to receive additional training in the quality assurance management field including advanced quality systems and concepts such as TQM, FMECA, QRQC, PPAP, APQP, ISO 9000, ISO 14001, AAR, IRIS, Lean Manufacturing, 6- Sigma, 5S, etc.
