Summary The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is 50 miles or less to Columbia, SC (Fort Jackson). Responsibilities Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Responsible for driving CYS buses that weigh more than 26,000 lbs. or carry more than 15 passengers regardless of weight, and is used for transporting children and youth to and from school, to other CYS and Garrison facilities, and on field trips. Follows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time and ensures all children have left the bus at the end of the route. Operates the bus in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; and reports any traffic violations to supervisor immediately. Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications 1. High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (MUST BE UPLOADED AT TIME OF APPLICATION). 2. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. 3. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. 4. Requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a passenger vehicle that carries 16 or more. (MUST UPLOAD) Highly Preferred: Applicants meeting the highly preferred will be referred first for hiring considerations. 1. Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with P and S endorsements. 2. Possess experience operating vehicles with air brakes.
