GMHC's School Mental Health Program seeks to build resilience in students and their families through effective therapy and support in school and community settings. School mental health therapists are stationed in schools full-time, and they integrate into the professional teams of the schools they serve. During weeks when school is out, including summer break, therapists offer services through Greenville Mental Health Center's Intensive Community-Based Services Program. Therapists engage clients in group therapy and a range of therapeutic activities and interventions aimed at helping children to achieve success in their homes, schools, and communities through development and application of social and emotional skills. School mental health therapists are required to have a Master's degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or psychology.
