ITW Applications Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina

As a key member of the engineering team, the Applications Engineer reports to the Applications Team Lead and is responsible for developing industry leading system and machine layouts and proposals, implementing our machine standards strategy and delivering leading application design to drive targeted margins while building and maintaining professional relationships with our key customers. This position will be based at our headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina. Primary responsibilities include: * Work with the Product Line Manager, Controls Manager, and Engineering Systems Manager to understand and implement our standardization strategy and ensure that our standards are in line with our key ’80’ opportunities. * Assist department in meeting the KPIs established by the Application Manager. * Application review and technical development of opportunities submitted from the field sales team. (Add contract reviews) * Detailed layout development inclusive of any existing infrastructure / packaging equipment, Hartness solutions and OEM equipment required for system design. * Pricing of Integrated Systems inclusive of Hartness solutions, OEM content, project management, installation and start-up support. * Development of internal profit profile for Integration quotations. * Provides sales support during the quotation phase that may include site visits to perform site surveys and evaluate scope. * Responsible for the acquisition of OEM quotes and templates for projects and verifying that the appropriate engineering details have been obtained and applied to the project layout and pricing. * Reviews the project specifications and scope and adheres to it through the quoting process. * Coordinates internal activities including design reviews and application acceptance of equipment and systems. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives which achieve results consistent with company goals. * Understand the metrics and KPI targets for the department to drive best-in-industry performance. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent engineering experience required. * 3+ years of experience with automated machinery and line layout development * Experience with AutoCAD, experience in using AutoCAD in building design is a plus. * Base knowledge of the competitive landscape within our industry. * Demonstrated ability to produce results within a team environment and to gain alignment and develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization. * Demonstrated competency in a basic equipment product line layout and development. * Able to define a problem, gather data to draw conclusions and develop appropriate plans to address. * Strong change management, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills. * Demonstrated ability to provide engineering support and ensure that products meet organization and industry standards. * Collaborative mindset and able to interact effectively with engineering and manufacturing personnel, and actively participates and drives effective teams. * Ability to complete mid-level complexity projects with minimal supervision. * Analytical, detailed oriented with ability to manage time and tasks appropriately. * Sound judgement and decision-making skills with ability to deliver great results. * Strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: * MBA and/or Advanced degree * Direct commercial experience with customers and a sales team * Experience with manufacturing and production lines in food, beverage and/or personal care industry /ITW is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
