GREENVILLE WATER Network Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina

Network EngineerDepartment: Information TechnologyReports To: IT ManagerFLSA Status: ExemptiJOB SUMMARYThe purpose of this classification is to design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot the intra and internet working infrastructure of Greenville Water.iESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Designs, administers, and secures computer networks and related computing environments including applications, hardware and configurations; and ensures maximum performance and availability to system users.Serves as LAN and WAN administrator, performing such duties as maintaining proper operation of routers and switches; diagnosing problems and determining resolutions; resolving configuration issues; monitoring network for normal operations; securing and monitoring network for malicious operations.Monitors and administers the Cisco Call Manager telephone system for proper operation. Diagnoses and resolves telecommunication system problems.Administers Microsoft 365 Teams Voice environment.Maintains interactivity and integration between telecommunications systems and other business and financial systems.Serves as primary point of contact for network-related service providers.Installs and/or configures network-related equipment and/or software. Maintains network appliances such as load balancers; proxy services; firewalls; intrusion prevention systems; virtual private networks (VPN).Ensures security of network systems and data through coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.Procures and manages mobile telecommunications devices, including cellular phones, pagers, and mobile wireless peripherals. Works with outside vendors on billing, rates and logistical issues.Performs disaster recovery operations and data backups.Provides user training and support on telecommunications systems.Provides technical assistance and instruction to co-workers and users.Provides client desktop support as needed.Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including program change orders, job logs, program documents, requests for proposals, memos, correspondence, etc.Provides backup support for Windows Server administration.Performs other related duties as required.iMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:An Associate's Degree in computer science or related technical field, supplemented by five (5) years of experience in network operations, is required; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.iiTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.
