Position Overview

Progress Lighting, Inc. has an opening for a Staff Project Engineer at it's Greenville, SC facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create mechanical drawings, Engineering Changes and other documents needed to support a product launch

  • Work in cross-functional team environment, including mechanical engineering, operations, sales, and marketing to design and validate proof of concept and qualify of new advanced solid-state lighting (SSL) products for production

  • Validate and launch new LED lluminaires

  • Assist with the concept and product feasibility and new product design of the solid-state lighting (SSL) luminaires focused on meeting performance and cost targets developed by the product managers

  • Bench test and validation as per lighting regulatory standards such as FCC/UL/CSA/Energy Star to receive required certification for new or improved products

  • Evaluate competitive product from vendors and other market resources and provide detail reports on design and manufacturability

  • Propose new ideas, concepts, and designs for continuous improvement in New Product Development, cost reduction and efforts towards creating efficient and reliable multi-generational products

  • Support interdisciplinary teams to ensure that all projects meet internal and external customer requirements, including performance, schedule and budget

  • Oversee initial design, prototyping, validation, testing, certification and production launch of new or improved SSL luminaire designs

Skills and Experience

  • Five or more years of work experience in the design of lighting, validating and launching new products and making improvements to existing products

  • Five or more years of work experience working in CAD packages such as SolidEdge or AutoCAD, and validating to UL 1598 lighting specification

  • Must possess at least a master's degree or it's equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Travel may be required up to 10%, National and International
