NURSE EDUCATOR - MCLEOD LORIS
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
Collaborates with Directors for McLeod Loris & Carolina Forest ED in conducting educational needs assessments. Serves as resource to staff.
Promotes a healthy work environment as evidenced by engagement with staff, directors, physicians. Participates in one staff huddle per month for each area of responsibility. Utilizes staff feedback in planning for educational activities. Rounds on 90% of full/part time employees at least once per year.
Reports any trends, problems or unusual activities to the director of area in a timely manner.
Demonstrates appropriate handling and storage of medications.
Demonstrates knowledge of HIPPA/ EMTALA; Practices patient confidentiality.
Teaches/coordinates classes for areas identified in need assessments.
Assures compliance with State and national regulatory agency standards.
Seeks out MD feedback regarding areas of educational responsibility at least 2 times per year.
Attends training on all new major clinical changes in assigned areas.
Maintains a safe, clean and organized environment as evidenced 4 out of 5 observations.
Consistently handles customer complaints promptly and effectively. Practices the GIFT service recovery approach: Give sincere apology; Identify with complaint; Fix/follow-up; Thank them for bringing it to our attention.
Recognizes potential/real problems as they arise, presents workable solutions, participates in implementation.
Documents clearly, concisely and in a professional manner.
Functions effectively in crisis situations; handles personal and professional frustrations appropriately.
Assumes personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion and respect for all patients, families, visitors and staff.
Uses time effectively. Demonstrates an ability to set appropriate priorities and is prompt in completing assigned tasks.
Adheres to the hospital’s absence/tardiness policy; adjusts schedule when requested for special assignments.
Assists org Learning / other educators with annual skills fair, BLS, ACLS, other classes as needed.
Assists with the design and implementation of alternative educational offerings including CBT’s, webinars, as needed.
Submits reports and information as requested.
Qualifications/Training: 5 years recent acute care experience with 2 years in a progressive leadership role.
BSN or equivalent Leadership experience.
Current unrestricted RN License to practice in SC
Current BLS Instructor; Obtain/Maintain ACLS instructor status within 6 months of hire; CPI
