The Lead Physician (MD/DO) position in the Primary Care Service Line is located in the Primary Care Clinics at the in Myrtle Beach, SC. The clinics are staffed by a total of 10 Primary Care teams organized according to the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model that represents the Patient Centered Medical Home principle. The teams care for a total of over 7,500 Veteran patients and are supported onsite by radiology, pain management, dermatology, cardiology, mental health, physical therapy, pharmacy, dietary, and social work services. As the parent facility, the RH Johnson VAMC in Charleston offers the full range of specialty care services according to its designation as a 1b VAMC.
We are looking for a Lead Physician for our dynamic group of Primary Care providers who is committed to delivering innovative, quality care to our nations Veterans. Candidates must have Primary Care clinical experience in the VA setting and will bring interest in investigative areas such as evidence-based medicine, innovative primary care models, or other topics pertinent to the primary care venue. S/he will also be responsible for providing comprehensive PACT primary care services to a defined panel of patients adjusted to meet administrative obligations and/or the need for access in Primary Care.
In addition to assisting the Chief, Primary Care and the Assistant Chief, Primary Care with the day-to-day operations of the Myrtle Beach CBOC, this position is designed to actively participate in projects in personnel management and recruitment, strategic planning, health care quality performance monitoring and management, and in various aspects of productivity. Additional duties can be assigned as demand arises. The position calls for excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and offers input into projects pertaining to the development of the clinic. It is designed for a long-term and full-time professional relationship with the Primary Care Service Line at the RH Johnson VAMC Charleston
Work Schedule: 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday through Friday with the option to work assignment for extended clinic hours and/or weekend clinics according to VHA Directive 2013-001. Financial Disclosure Report:Not required

Basic Requirements: * United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. * Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. * Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. * Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. * Proficiency in spoken and written English. * Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
