Spinvi RHEL Linux System Administrator/Engineer in North Charleston, South Carolina

Spinvi is hiring an RHEL Linux System Administrator / Engineer for a NIWC contract to deliver virtualization engineering, cloud engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, system administration, configuration management, cybersecurity, training curriculum development, technical support, test and evaluation, lifecycle logistics, and sustainment for a program in support of the Program Executive Office (PEO) Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4I) Program Office, Acquisition Program Office PMA268, Program Management Warfare (PMW) PMW790, PMW160, PMW150, PMW120 & NAVY INFORMATION FORCES (NAVIFOR) for Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat, and Intelligence (C5I) stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering new Linux based services

  • Sustain existing array of RHEL 6.x-7.x virtual nodes

  • Support system architecture design and implementation efforts

  • Manage forward and reverse proxies

  • Managing accounts and network rights

  • Managing systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability

  • Implementing security procedures and tools

  • Developing and documenting systems administration standard operating procedures

  • Resolving significant hardware/software interface and interoperability problems

  • Ensuring systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency; maintaining systems configuration

  • Managing the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements

  • Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of RHEL based systems

  • Experience maintaining compliance of RHEL based systems using STIGS or CIS

  • Understanding of essential network services such as DNS, SMTP, NTP, IMAP, and SNMP

  • Day to day support operations maintaining security patches on all RHEL based systems

  • Day to day support operations providing configuration updates to meet user requirements on all RHEL systems and services

  • Experience with Containers, RedHat Kubernetes platforms

  • Understanding of Linux based Networking

  • Knowledge of syslog collection

Highly Desired Skills (considered a plus):

  • Experience with chassis/blade/storage system hardware configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Experience with VMware virtual environments

  • Experience with the Puppet Labs

  • Familiarity with Splunk architecture and best practices

Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of hands on experience as a Linux (primarily RHEL) Administrator performing the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Linux based systems.

  • Experience with user account management and associated DoD security practices

  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent experience in Unix/Linux systems administration

Certifications:

  • 8570 IAT Level II Certification and CND Infrastructure Support

Travel:

  • Up to 10% Travel May be required

Education:

  • Minimum: Possess a high school diploma or GED;

  • Preferred: BS degree in Engineering, Physical Science or Computer Science.
