Spinvi Storage and Hardware Administrator (SHA) Team Member in North Charleston, South Carolina

SHA (Storage & Hardware Administrator) will continually evolve and make an impact by optimizing the availability, scalability, and resilience of the critical CSSP storage and hardware. This includes servers, hard drives, network devices, memory, CPUs, and the software used to manage the aforementioned devices. SHA also participates in service capacity; demand planning and forecasting; software performance analysis; system tuning addressing problems relating to mission critical service; and build automation to prevent problem recurrence with the goal of automating response to all non-exceptional service conditions. Members of this team also monitor the health of systems and also work with vendors to process any Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) due to failed or faulty hardware.

Requirements

Position Requirements and Duties:

  • Work with teams across a full stack of development tools and technologies to simplify and improve software lifecycle processes.

  • Monitor - Define Service Level Objectives (SLO) and implement/monitor Service Level Indicators (SLI) for production services.

  • Aggregate data from multiple monitoring tools, normalize, and build tools and alerts for the overall system health.

  • Support and test new software/hardware platforms - build testing methodologies & plans, conduct the POC from a deployment and operational point of view

  • Design and develop CI/CD pipelines.

  • Design cloud infrastructure surrounding secure networking best practices.

  • Actively lead the availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions.

  • Identify process bottlenecks and research tools to fix them.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code.

  • Provision and configure assets using scripts, API’s and CLI’s and management console.

  • Automate the build of containerized systems with CI/CD and Kubernetes.

  • Define the technical direction taken by product teams through implementation of alternative products, tools and methods that can be used to foster innovation and increase product quality and the productivity of engineering as a whole.

  • Automate operational tasks, and assist in the transition to service ownership models.

  • Provide storage infrastructure system management including capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning, security management etc.

  • Be able to configure and maintain the Netapp Snap suite of products (Snapmirror, Virtual Storage console, SnapManager for Oracle, SnapManager for SQL etc.), ISCSI, NFS, CIFS

  • Handle non-disruptive software Upgrades, Shelf and disk firmware upgrades in a high availability enterprise environment.

  • Participate in on-call rotation providing support for tier 1 escalations, and management of the applications

  • Direct management of VMware virtualization platform comprised of vCenter and 200+ ESX/ESXi hosts

Required Skills:

  • Experience with VMWare ESXi and/or vSphere 6.x

  • Familiarity managing Nutanix systems

  • Experience with managing storage within VMware, vMotion, and other enterprise-level VMware applications

  • Experience with configuration management utilities (SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, etc).

  • Strong understanding of system health monitoring

  • Experience with hardware/software load balancers including F5, HA Proxy, Nginx, Apache, ELB, etc

Highly Desired Skills (considered a plus):

  • Familiar with databases, particularly PostgreSQL, MySQL

  • Experience with the Saltstack (salt-stack, salt-cloud, and salt-api)

  • Experience with systems and network performance tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, system architecture and design as well as high availability concepts

  • Deployment of scalable containerized applications managed via Kubernetes

  • Good comfort level with Powershell (PowerCLI) and/or Perl (vSphereCLI) scripting environments for automation

  • Strong experience with vRealize Operations Manager 7.x

  • Knowledge of broader network infrastructure components (e.g. TCP/IP, Active Directory)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years using VMware

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a production grade Linux environment

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Netapp storage platforms

Certifications:

  • 8570 IAT Level II Certification and CND Infrastructure Support Certification

Education:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

Additional Information:

  • Up to 10% Travel May be required

  • Authorized to administer all DNS Servers and all zones.
