Tax Specialist

We are seeking a Tax Specialist for a temp-to-hire opening in North Charleston. The position requires an 8 hours shift between the hours of 6am-6pm. The salary will be $40,000- $50,000 annually based on education and applicable work experience.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for all Direct and Indirect State and local taxes for the companies entities. This posiiton is in a fast paced dynamic work environment, as well as operating as a team member in managing all global taxes.

Job Duties:

Tax Specialist

  1. State Income taxes

a. Prepare income tax filings, estimates , extensions

b. Evaluate and Respond to all State Correspondence

c. Primary owner of State Audits

d. Gather apportionment

e. Assist in annual Tax provision calculations as needed

  1. Property tax - US and CA

a. Real estate - Filings/payments

b. Inventory and personal property - Filings/payments

c. Budgets and Reconciliation of Accounts

d. Manage property tax appeals and reporting with DMA

e. Correspondence

i. Notices

ii. work with consultant on appeals

  1. Research and coordination with payroll team relocation, expatriates, issues

  2. 1099, 1042-S filings all US entities

  3. FinCEN reporting for foreign bank accounts

  4. Corporate Registrations - manage CSC covering all US and CA requirements

a. Annual reports

b. New registrations

c. Correspondence

  1. Statistics and Census filings US and CA

  2. Preparation and management of tax depreciation for US and CA purposes

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

*Accounting degree preferred

*At least 2 years of applicable experience

*Computer knowledge essential, specifically excel skills (and JDEdwards knowledge is a bonus)

*Accounting knowledge required.

*Tax experience a bonus, especially if in state and local income tax arena.
