SC Department of Public Safety Electronics Technician I (61034472) in Orangeburg County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

Assists with the duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signals/electrical systems. Assists the signal technicians with replacement of obsolete or damaged controllers/cabinets and repairs of detector loops. Assists with the maintenance and repair of electrical problems in buildings on SCDOT grounds. Assists with preventive maintenance checks on traffic signal equipment. Performs any related duties as requested by supervisor. Assists with inspection of work by contractors ensuring all specifications are met. Assists with intersection inspection. Trains in the operation of large bucket truck pulling pole trailer and trenching machine. Assists with interpreting blueprints for the installation and repair of traffic signalized intersections. Repairs traffic detectors as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
