About Our Agency The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is the state agency that plans, develops, coordinates and funds services for South Carolinians with the severe,

- spinal cord injury and similar disability
Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of agency expenditures and revenue coming into the Agency. Ensures that disbursements conform and comply with existing departmental and state regulations.
Audits disbursement requests of assigned vendors for accuracy, authorization, proper documentation, and proper account code classification. Monitors payments for compliance with state disbursement rules and regulations. Ensures that invoices are processed in a timely manner. Enters expenditure information into the agency's accounting system.
Accurately enters necessary information into SAP with minimal errors. Bills state agencies through SAP. Communicates with vendors and agency staff to resolve payment problems and relay disbursement guidelines. Maintains an organized file of all pending disbursement documents. Serves as agency courier.
This position will be located within the Central Office of the Department of *Disabilities* and Special Needs located at 3440 Harden Street Ext., Columbia, SC 29203. **
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and experience in entry-level accounting or bookkeeping. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for required work experience.
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to collect, compile, and assemble information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures. Considerable knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices. Skilled in the use of basic mathematical concepts. Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and training with a minimum of one (1) year experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processing. Must have initiative, good attendance, and ability to work well with others. Must also possess a valid SC driver's license.
