Amec Foster Wheeler Scheduler/Planner Pulp & Paper Facility in Rock Hill, South Carolina

Wood is currently seeking an EPC scheduler/planner. The scheduler/planner will prepare detailed schedules for proposed or current construction projects and may support multiple projects. The scheduler/planner will report directly to the Project Controls Manager or Project Manager while assigned to projects and employ standards, policies, procedures and guidelines as determined by the head of project controls for ASA Process & Energy.

This position available is near Rock Hill, South Carolina, however, it may begin in the corporate office (Tucker GA). Project duration is roughly 18 months.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principle scheduler for project(s)

  • Requires exceptional knowledge of Primavera P6 Enterprise and Microsoft Office software

  • Perform a variety of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of highly complex Primavera P6 project schedules including; WBS structure development, sequencing, constraints, resource loading, progress tracking, earned value reporting, float management, etc.

  • Lead schedule update meetings, as required

  • Ensure the timely status and updating of project schedules for owner, project management team, subcontractors and craft superintendents

  • Ensure timely preparation of miscellaneous weekly and monthly charts, reports, graphs and short interval schedules in accordance with all internal and contractual requirements

  • Work extensively with subcontractors and partners, ensuring schedule requirement compliance, accurate and timely updates, slippage recovery, etc.

  • Verbal and written interface with client, project management, controls staff and engineering team members

  • Must be able to work effectively / present information in both one-on-one and in collaborative group environments

  • Comply with customer reporting requirements

  • Additional responsibilities will be defined in the relevant process procedure

  • Track and/or verify discipline progress using earned value methods.


  • Minimum 7 year(s) experience in the heavy industrial construction industry (project controls and/or project management)

  • Solid knowledge of construction best practices

  • Solid knowledge of typical project management best practices; earned value management, commodity tracking, etc.

  • Knowledge of computer software with experience in scheduling software including, but not limited to P6 applications, MS Project, MS Excel and other common business software.

  • Knowledge of advanced planning and scheduling practices; WBS setup, project coding, activity coding, calendars, reporting, etc.

  • Understand engineering drawings and specifications

  • Able to work at a project site for the duration of the project and willing to relocate to new projects upon completion of assignments or temporarily work from the Tucker GA office

  • Understand planning for systems turnover

Special Requirement

Candidate must be willing to travel to and reside on location.

Additional Technical Skills (Not Required)

  • Knowledge of Power BI or other data aggregation applications

  • Query building skills from various data sets

  • Ability to design effective and user friendly project controls tools to supplement project needs

Education and Experience

Minimum of 5 year(s) relevant experience in scheduling or 3 year(s) experience with relevant bachelor’s degree and/or professional training. The required experience may be in project management and project controls combined. Applicants with EPC experience in the power, pulp & paper and chemical industries are preferred.

  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos

  • Ability to write correspondence
