American Credit Acceptance Team Lead, Funding and Underwriting in Spartanburg, South Carolina

The team lead for funding and underwriting is responsible for assisting funders, underwriters and the team supervisor through coaching, instructions, additional training, and complex issues. Duties include being the subject matter expert, driving processes across the team and communicating with associates and dealers while ensuring that all transactions are in accordance with state and federal regulations along with company policy and procedures. This position will also take on various responsibilities throughout the department as assigned.

  • Assists the supervisor to ensure that the team meets and/or exceeds company standards for productivity, compliance, and quality assurance

  • Conducts coaching side by sides to identify areas of improvements and/or strengths and provide training to new hires

  • Could fill in for a supervisor temporarily during absence

  • Handle complex issues with confidence, expertise and timeliness

  • Foster positive dealer and customer relationships

  • Present a positive image to clients at all times

  • Timely response to associates questions and inquiries

  • May assist in other duties as assigned

  • Minimum 2 plus years of experience in funding, underwriting or minimum 1 year of experience in auto funding

  • At least 6 months in a top tier competency role within ACA, LLC preferred with satisfactory or better quality assurance results.

  • Must meet ACA’s Internal Transfer Policy guidelines (found in the Employee Handbook)

  • Full understanding of ACA’s policies and procedures

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Demonstrate an outgoing personality with the ability to build relationships and establish trust

  • Must possess strong leadership skills, work ethic and willingness to learn

  • Must be able to pass criminal background check, credit check, and drug test.

  • Must possess the ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills, adapt to change, and problem solving skills while maintaining composure.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and coaching abilities

  • Must be a self-motivator while actively participating in a team environment

  • Bilingual preferred

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will supervise a team of Funding Specialists.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours may vary and exceed 40+ hours per week depending on business needs.


No travel is expected for this position.
