Contec Inc. Transportation Coordinator in Spartanburg, South Carolina

The primary purpose of the Transportation Coordinator is to be responsible for the coordination of inbound and outbound freight transportation needs, both domestic and international, with transportation service providers. This position is also responsible for arranging and tracing shipments with low cost service providers while maintaining a level of service, which meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations.

  • Coordinates inbound and outbound shipments to and from all destinations for multiple modes of transport (ground, ocean, air, rail).

  • Works closely with internal departments and domestic and international carriers (ground, ocean, air, and rail) to facilitate and track the movement products and packages to ensure that they reach predetermined destinations within deadlines. Secure necessary shipping details for import and export shipments.

  • Processes all aspects of shipping and receiving documentation (Commercial Invoices, Delivery Notes, Insurance certificate, customs declarations, Importer Security Filings, billing and documentation of export orders, NAFTA certs., etc.) and provides these documents to the necessary parties to ensure timely clearance, remission of correct duties and proper completion of deliveries.

  • Maintains transportation and distribution procedures to ensure efficiency and select appropriate methods to minimize costs and maximize customer satisfaction.

  • Corrects any erroneous information which causes failure of transmission and consults with Export Compliance Specialist of the freight forwarders for guidance if necessary.

  • Works with vendors, consultants and intra-company personnel as required, supporting export compliance product classification or regulatory issues to classify items for export and obtain country of origin information and / or NAFTA certs. for pending orders and new products as required.

  • Updates various databases (specifically ERP, Product and Partner databases).

  • Requests carrier rates and handle bookings with domestic and international carriers (Airlines, steamship lines and freight forwarders).

  • Communicates with both overseas agents and customers by providing them with pre-alert of the export shipment details.

  • Works closely with 3rd party logistics partners to enhance logistics productivity and efficiency.

  • Looks for, suggest, and implement ideas for cost savings and process improvements related to transportation, packaging, and supply chain operations.

  • Participates and works within ISO 9001-2008 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.

  • Others as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) from four-year college or university; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
