Thompson Pump and Manufacturing Co., Inc. SALES REPRESENTATIVE in Summerville, South Carolina

POSITION OBJECTIVES:Drive the sales and rental and sale of equipment, accessories and parts. Develop the territory and strengthen existing relationships with regional general contractors, maintenance firms, municipalities, construction management firms and industrial plant contractors.

  • Solicit sales and rentals of Thompson pumps, equipment and accessories to Contractors, Municipalities and industrial accounts.

  • Make routine site visits, conduct product demos and coordinate our industry-leading 24-hour service capabilities.

  • Instruct customers on proper operation and use of equipment.

  • Supply all documentation necessary to support the organization’s ability to deliver, invoice and file “Notice to Owner” information.

  • The position also requires regular travel throughout the territory and representation of Thompson Pump at trade shows and participation in Thompson Pump’s highly regarded internal Pumpology training programs.

  • Enforces safety and security regulations and procedures, including assisting with and conducting safety training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer three years of experience in construction, industrial, environmental, mining or petrochemical sales/rental.

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college, technical school, trade school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Will consider recent college graduates who are willing to learn the business at entry level. Degrees in Construction, Civil Engineering, Management, or Industrial Distribution are preferred.

  • high proficiency of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and order processing systems (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
