BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Operations Administrative Assistant in Sumter, South Carolina

Job Description SummaryThe Operations Administrative Assistant works on Human Resources and manufacturing operations assignments that are moderate in scope, requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve problems and develop recommendations. Act independently to determine new methods and procedures on assignments and may provide guidance to other non-exempt personnel. Additionally, this position requires the Operations Administrative Assistant to use their ability to contribute to the effective operation of Human Resources and manufacturing operations in completing tasks in creative and effective ways.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading BD-Sumter’s Talent Acquisition Process, to include the following,

  • Provide recruiting updates to local and WW Leadership Teams

  • Lead TA meetings with TAPs

  • Act as a liaison between hiring managers and TAPs to ensure that positions are filled in a timely manner

  • Make recommendations as needed and/or escalate recruiting issues as required

  • Participate in Sumter’s BD Production System (BDPS) Continuous Skills Development (CSD) Component Process and training programs execution as needed/instructed

  • Assist in COVID-19 contact tracing activities, update CMT database(s) and report cases to Leadership Team, as needed. This responsibility will potentially necessitate weekend rotation work.

  • Serve as a back-up supporting payroll and payroll leave administration, including but not limited to:

  • Execute all payroll related files utilizing Workday and E-time/ADP systems as required

  • Train all new Supervisors and time administrators on E-time and attendance programs

  • Lead the New Hire Orientation Program and the completion and submission of all on boarding paperwork to the Associate Service Center. This includes presenting the HR related presentations and on boarding contingent workers, as needed

  • Manage badges and lockers for associates, contingent workers, contractors, and visitors.

  • Take a participatory or leading role on the Plant’s Newspaper Committee.

  • Actively redirect customers to self-service options as appropriate, teaching them how to be self-sufficient in use of direct access tools and the knowledge HROne portal.

  • Assist with special projects and initiatives. This can include but is not limited to data gathering and analysis, assisting with large group meetings, ordering materials, and preparing content for presentations.

  • Coordinate departmental meetings, develop, and distribute instructions, coordinate room setup logistics, interface with those attending meetings and facilitate arrangements.

  • Facilitate incoming and outgoing department communications on behalf of Manufacturing Operations/ Human Resources teams.

  • Coordinate various office support services, including purchasing and facilities management.

  • Assist in the coordination of associate-relations functions and events.

  • Perform all other duties as directed by Supervisor or Department Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information.

  • Strong skills in planning, organizing, and prioritizing are essential.

  • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Skill in gathering, interpreting, and reporting information.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and establish and maintain effective working relationships is essential.

  • Must be customer service oriented with the ability to anticipate future needs.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work independently and with little supervision.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma/GED required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources preferred

  • A minimum of 1 year of administrative assistant experience preferred
