The Machine Control Field Service Technician reports directly to the Support Manager and are responsible for providing customer support through the performance of on-site installations, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of on machine systems and technical customer training. These individuals should have a background in mechanical and electrical engineering. Working as a subject matter expert, the Machine Control Field Service Technician is responsible for the professional installation of Trimble 2D and 3D machine control systems and telematics hardware on non-

Cat branded machines and the professional installation of Cat Grade systems on Cat machines. They are additionally responsible for assisting in the development of localized training materials and providing training to end users on the operation of Machine Control systems. The Machine Control Field Service Technician is responsible for delivering quality technical assistance on time. Customer satisfaction is the key component of the Machine Control Field Service Technician’s success.

Preferred Skills

  • Two-year college or vocational degree in hydraulic or mechanical engineering or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical issues on heavy equipment machines.

  • Familiarity with construction site operations using heavy equipment machine controlled systems is desired.

  • Previous presentation and/or course development skills are a plus.

  • Experience in Arc welding is desired.

  • Operation of heavy construction equipment a plus.

  • Able to hold 8-hour training classes from 1 to 5 days in length in classroom or field environments.

  • Must have a basic understanding of using a PC including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Essential Duties & Responsibiities

  • Primary resource in providing on machine installation, maintenance and training on Civil Construction technology at the customers site.

  • Ensures the operational quality of the system by documenting post-installation tests.

  • Provides on-site troubleshooting as requested by the sales and technical support organization.

  • Provides high-level operator training to end users.

  • Ensures that installation, training, and other work necessary is completed on time.

  • Documents and reports field activities as well as being proactive in creating process improvements.

  • Assist sales and marketing with trade shows and events.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all Sitech Mid Atlantic personnel.

  • Drives revenue based upon performance of services for construction machine customers.

  • Creates and provides localized training services for qualified customers and 3rd party organizations with the intent to educate and expand the overall business of machine related construction within the region.
